Fall 2011 - Newsletter
THANK YOU!
What a great summer we've had. May started off with a bang with rain, wind storms and broken trees. It just gave us a little more work with lots of fun and help, which allowed us to meet several great people we have the pleasure of working with every day.
For those who have been camping here this summer, you will agree we have a great team helping us out. We could not have done it by ourselves. We have Sue who does a fantastic job of cleaning the washrooms, rentals and everything else she gets her hands on. We have Ron responsible for daily cleaning, opening and closing of the pool. We had Gary and now Ron and Tammy cutting grass, trimming bushes and cutting down trees. Most of you know Marc and he does just about anything that needs to get done, including the Honey Wagon!!! We also have several other volunteers who have helped along the way like Ben, Larry and several more. THANK YOU all for your cooperation and huge support. The 'Activities Committee" have been very busy gathering ideas, scheduling, planning and organizing activities. We had a schedule of events for each month. Each event was a huge success. THANK YOU all and we hope to have volunteers join the team next year! The positive feedback received was daily and extremely overwhelming. We had Canada Day celebrations, Christmas in July with the REAL Santa, Dog Show and many more activities like BBQs, Holey Board tournament, Silent Auction, Craft Sale, Bingos, Bonfires, Bands playing, daily exercises in the clubhouse, etc. Participation was great from all age groups. We updated our website, galvinbay.com so you will find several pictures taken throughout the park this summer. THANK YOU to everyone who took pictures and shared them with us.
"Simply Delicious" provided us with ready-made meals throughout the summer. He also served breakfasts on different occasions. This too was a huge success, which we hope to repeat next year. THANK YOU Brian!
We have accomplished everything we had planned to do this summer except for the Splash Pad. It has been cleaned up and everything has been removed for now. We will wait till next year to determine what we do. We haven't seen the number of children required to make the Splash Pad a profitable investment.
We also put in a water treatment system, which was a provincial requirement for all campgrounds. As you have probably seen, Fred Primeau carved bears at the entrance of the park. You will be seeing a few more. We also made changes to the park map, and changed street names to make it more personal to us.
As we wrap up Season 2011 we look toward 2012. Our goal next year is simply to improve and fine-tune what we've started. The reservation system has proven to be a very useful tool that we plan on making available online at some point throughout the next year. All reservations for next year can be done effective May 15th.
You will only be able to book one reservation at a time.
We are renovating the washrooms and making minor updates like painting the store and clubhouse, etc. We also want to level several sites to make them easier to park on. We will also move in our apartment on top of the clubhouse this fall.
For now, this is pretty much the plan for 2012. Sylvain and I look forward to next season and wish all of you a great winter. Safe traveling and we will see you all in May.
